                                           Frank Mannino

Frank Mannino was inspired into music by his famous uncle Santo Pecora, the great jazz trombonist.  
As a child, Frank's primary instruments were comb and tissue paper, cardboard box and rubber bands.  
He eventually graduated to clarinet, saxophone and flute and performed with Santo's band and others
before committing to education.

Mannino's path of education includes Warren Easton High School, the University of Southwestern
Louisiana (1 year),  Radio Operator (Ensign in the Maritime Service), Loyola University (BME), and
Louisiana State University (MME).

Frank was band director at Holy Name of Mary High School, Ridgewood Prep, Holy Cross High, East
Jefferson High, and T. H. Harris Junior High over a span of 37 years.

During this time, Frank organized the Frankie Mann Orchestra, performing casual engagements in and
out of New Orleans and playing and conducting for personalities such as Sid Ceasar, Regis Philbert,
Frankie Valon, Jack Carter, Henny Youngman, Perry Como, Bob Hope, Doc Severinsen and many
others.  He has also performed with the New Orleans Summer Pops, the New Orleans Symphony and
the New Orleans Opera Association.  Frankie Mann is also considered one of the top Mardi Gras Tableau
Conductors at this time.

Professional memberships include LMEA, MENC, LBA (Past President), Phi Beta Mu, Phi Mu
Alpha-Sinfonia, ASBDA, and AF of M Local 174-496.


Many will remember Frank's major contribution to Louisiana as an introducer of jazz band to LMEA.  He
served as the first chairman of Jazz Band for the All-State panel and brought the National Association of
Jazz to Louisiana, also serving as its first President.  He has served as clinician, adjudicator, and
conductor for Honor Symphonic and Jazz Bands throughout the state of Louisiana.
