| LMEA All State Jazz Audition Requirements for Drum Set 2011-2012 NOTE: The drum book consists of drum charts and drum transcriptions for each song title. Play as specified. Set I (2008-2009) A Doll (play drum transcription) Lunar (play drum chart) Groove Blues (using drum chart, play 4 bars time, 4 bars improvised solo alternating through all 5 choruses) Perform a one minute funk solo Set II (2009-2010) Blue Minor (play drum transcription) Friends (play drum chart) Groove Blues (using drum chart, play 4 bars time, 4 bars improvised solo alternating through all 5 choruses) Perform a one minute funk solo Set III (2010-2011) Rose (play drum transcription) Father Song (play drum chart) Groove Blues (using drum chart, play 4 bars time, 4 bars improvised solo alternating through all 5 choruses) Play a one minute funk solo Set IV (2011-2012) Passage (play drum transcription) Tunisia (play drum chart) Groove Blues (using drum chart, play 4 bars time, 4 bars improvised solo alternating through all 5 choruses) Play a one minute funk solo **NOTE: The 1 Minute funk solo will not be required for this years audition. This change to the audition requirement has not been made in the LMEA Handbood yet. *Each student is to provide his/her own equipment and music for auditions. The only exception is the piano and amplifier. **A drum set will be provided if a drummer does not wish to bring his/her own drum set. ***Students are reminded that all selections must be performed with the CD which will be supplied at the audition site. |
